Estia Greek Festival.
Content Creation, Social Media, Graphic Design, Photography, Web Design
Estia Greek Festival was founded in 1994, with my yiayia on the first organising committee. She sat at the helm for years - wanting to share the Greek-Australian experience. Growing up, Estia was a major part of my childhood. Estia volunteer shirts always a staple in our “painting shirt” collection - and symbolised an extension of family. Both mum and yiayia were involved in the organising of the yearly event.
In 2023 I started with a focus on content and social media. In 2023 we relied only on organic social media, and yielded the most successful festival to date.

Identity
Most in Hobart know Estia or have heard the name - this year I decided to leverage that and shorten the name where possible from “Estia Greek Festival” to just “Estia.” Referencing previously successful branding from some years ago - I made all assets a year to create a more consistent brand experience I shortened the “Estia Greek Festival” name to just “Estia” in most cases. The same deep blue was used across assets paired with the blue speckled background.
Content
I found out Estia was going ahead about 3 weeks before the festival. With limited content from previous festivals the below were the social media tiles produced.
archival content
Archival content saved me when there was little left to use. I wanted to push the aspects of Greek culture people seem to love - souvkali, yiayias, sweet treats made by said yiayias, papous fighting over control of the BBQ, plate smashing (Hobart City Council said no this which is rude) and references to cultural staple, My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
I’ll let you guess which one is my favourite and why.
